a few tube flies ready for the new season:
Well I could nominate one or two for pudding of the year,
but I’d rather concentrate on the proof of my methods:
an afternoon brought some sport – you know these videos are so great it is almost like being here with www.troutflyrod.com
busy with artwork, getting ready to sell via www.troutflyrod.com
i’ve been researching angling art to date, and, while one sees Rolfe’s work commanding some interest, the piles of gloomy dead fish provide little in the way of inspiration to me at least.
i think it rubbed off in the adsent catch, ho hum but how lucky for me to fish such lovely waters:
well below is some footage from an Itchen Carrier. I had a short session and caught a wild brown of 11 inches, full of blustering indignation, followed by a two pounder.
i developed a new danica pattern today and it worked its magic flawlessly
fished the itchen more danica and some quite picky fish. lots of offerings were refused, but managed a two pounder and a small wid fish.
do eels rise to danica and take them off the surface – yes i saw this happen, or at least i’m 80% that’s what happened.
i’m also observing fish communicating with each other, when alarmed a startled fish will often bump another as if to warn it. flashing too another communication method, where the fish makes a bright flasdh with its flank.
i had a blank afternoon yesterday, i rose five decent fish and missed the lot.
ahead of the session i began to feel a bit weary of mayfly (danica) fishing.
floating model galleons down the stream to be mostly ignored, then snatched just as your concentration wanders.
i was interested to read last evening that Skues disliked the danica hatch and would have been delighted to see their removal if at all possible. not least it creates a feeding frenzy on the river banks as fellow brothers of the angle appear as if by magic to quite rightly enjoy the sport, such as it is.
